Lamont Roach Jr. promises he will put on a great show when he defeats Isaac 'Pitbull' Cruz on December 6 in San Antonio, Texas, and takes the interim World Boxing Council (WBC) 140-pound title.

During a press conference in San Antonio, Roach Jr. stated that he will look to hurt and stop Pitbull Cruz to establish himself as one of the best boxers today.

“I trust in myself as I always have, not only against 'Pitbull'. I always look to hurt my opponent, demolish him and stop him before the final bell,” he said.

“Cruz is a great boxer, as explosive as he is enjoyable for a fan base that loves watching him fight. I will be a great dance partner that will complement his fighting style. Tune in for this fight, it will not disappoint. I will win, and it will be a great show,” he added.

Lamont Roach Jr. will return to the ring after a hard-fought match with Gervonta Davis that ended controversially, since in the ninth round 'Tank' knelt and the referee did not rate it as a knockdown because the champion indicated that he had something in the eye.

This may have been a determining factor in tipping the scales in favor of Roach Jr. After twelve rounds, two judges scored the fight 114-114 while the third saw Davis win 115-113. The American was negotiating a rematch, but 'Tank' accepted a multi-million dollar fight with Jake Paul for November.

Instead, Pitbull Cruz is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Omar Salcido - who came in as a last-minute replacement for Angel 'Tashiro' Fierro - on the scorecards (99-89, 99-89 and 100-88), consolidating his position as WBC interim 140-pound world champion.

Now the two former rivals of Gervonta Davis will face off and the Mexican fighter is the favorite to win.

Lamont Roach Jr., 29, drew with Tank Davis after twelve rounds in a fight he thinks he should have won. The American has a professional record of 25 wins (10 by knockout), one loss and two draws.

For his part,Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz, 26, was crowned interim WBC super lightweight champion in Las Vegas and wants to continue adding to his legacy. The Mexican boxer now has a professional record of 28 wins (18 of them by knockout), three losses, and one draw.
