After the rumors that the Argentine coach Eduardo Berizzo had lost the confidence of the Leon locker room, finally after the 0-2 defeat away with FC Juarez was fired by the emerald board, becoming the third coach to be left without a job in the tournament.

The decision to dismiss Berizzo could pave the way for Grupo Pachuca's long-standing desire to bring back to Mexican soccer the Argentine Martin Anselmi, former technical director of Cruz Azul who left the Maquina Celeste through the back door due to a lack of professionalism and to this day it is not known for sure who was right in that contractual mess.

A very painful result, but according to what was happening in the environment of the Leonese team, the decision of the board headed by Jesus Martinez seemed like the chronicle of an announced dismissal, since the short circuit between both parties was detected and more so after they allowed the Colombian star James Rodriguez not to travel to Tijuana to face the Xolos supposedly because it was artificial turf.

That apparently was the straw that broke the camel's back, since the majority of the squad's players interpreted that Berizzo's discipline and personality had been greatly compromised and that anything could be done within the Bajio squad without any consequences.

For that reason, the official announcement this Saturday, 24 hours after the stumble at FC Juarez, was normal for the official statement of Berizzo's dismissal to appear, since a week ago it had been interpreted as a move to help the current coaching staff of the Esmeraldas.

"He has shared with us that his time as Technical Director of Club Leon is over," said the Leon board in its statement, thanking everyone for the professionalism and desire to leave the organization that a year and a half ago bet on his ability to lead a successful project.

The former coach of the Chile and Paraguay national teams arrived at Leon in the 2024 Apertura tournament to lead 44 matches in total with 15 wins, 11 draws and 18 losses that played against him, especially because the board considered that there was no viability to maintain a project that was gradually weakening.

In his first championship, the project was to only finish the 2024 Apertura, but his good work helped him to be renewed for one more semester, managing to reach the quarterfinals of the 2025 Clausura tournament so that in the current championship he would be thanked.

The Leon board was dissatisfied with the team's performance, especially with the signings they made so that Berizzo had at his disposal a squad with players of the level of Colombian James Rodriguez, Italian Nicolas Fonseca and Rodrigo Echeverria, who encouraged the success of the plans, especially since they were designed to compete with everything in the Club World Cup.
