After drawing 0-0 against Saudi Arabia this Friday, the Cape Verde team achieved a historic qualification to the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup as second in group H, surprising the two-time champion Uruguay and one of the surprises of the 2022 edition such as the Arab team.
The feat is achieved thanks to three draws, but marked by the defeat of the Uruguayans at the hands of Spain in Guadalajara, when even a draw would have been enough for them to qualify.
The African team will face the Argentina team, current world champion, in the next round.
