South Korea has the advantage that its great figure knows Concacaf football, the atmosphere and the stadiums he will attend. Son Heung-min has been a player who has earned the affection of Los Angeles FC fans.
The former Tottenham striker is grateful for the support he has had since arriving in American soccer. Son Heung-min is playing this World Cup at 33 years old, but he refuses to say that it will be the last of his career.
"Now I play in LAFC and there are many Mexicans and I feel the passion, I have learned a lot from them, they send me their love and I am grateful. I don't think I have done enough to earn that nickname (Sonaldo). I have never said that this will be my last cup, you are free to say what you want, but I have to say that," said the South Korean forward.
Good impressions at the World Cup
Son Heung-min has played in three World Cups. The United States, Mexico and Canada World Cup is the fourth in his career. Although he has already lived this experience, Son recognized that nothing compares to living in the moment.
“I can't express it in a word, it is the scenario of dreams and whether it is the first or sixth World Cup, the mentality is the same,” said the MLS footballer.
The Asian team will seek to improve their numbers from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In the previous World Cup, South Korea lost in the round of 16 against the Brazil team. Son Heung-min looks around and trusts his teammates.
"We have more experience and there are some changes, but the mentality is the same. The atmosphere has been positive from the beginning and when I see my teammates, they have made a huge effort for the Korean team, we are very prepared," he said.
