“Vasco” Aguirre with retirement just around the corner, revealed his wife
Silvia Carrión, wife of Javier Aguirre, revealed that the end of the Mexico coach's career is closer than it seems
Just as the lyrics of the song by Mexican performer José José say, that one day it will come that, after so much coming and going, rolling, the body will tell him no, stop, that he is already tired, the wife of Javier Aguirre, coach of Mexico, Silvia Carrión revealed that the strategist's retirement is very close.
This was made known in an interview for the Spanish magazine Hola, edition of Mexico, the partner of the Mexican strategist in the last four decades, when he assured that there is still a lot of strength, impetus and desire of the Mexican coach, but that retirement from the fields is closer than what people may expect.
The companion of a thousand battles of Mikel's father, Iker and Ander, does not hesitate in the talk she had with this media as she has never hesitated to walk alongside the three-time World Cup coach of Mexico, because she does not agree that behind a great man, there is a great woman. On the contrary, it considers that women should walk alongside men, fighting, planning, triumphing and suffering the path of life.
"It's not about being behind; it's about being by his side, accompanying him. I also have my life, my things. I like movies, I like to sing, in short; each of us has a profession and some hobbies that we like and we both do them. It seems to me that that's the best thing as a couple," he highlighted.
With 67 years under his belt, Aguirre has accumulated more than 850 official matches, of which ten have been World Cup matches leading Mexico in Korea and Japan 2022, South Africa 2010 and now Mexico 2026, where they recently defeated South Africa and South Korea.
Retirement closer than you think
Perhaps that is why the retirement of the “Vasco” fields is closer than one might expect, since the three musketeers are not the same 30 years later and sometimes the body will tell you no, to stop and that now is the time to enjoy the family more, the wife, the children, but above all the grandchildren.
"Javier has said that he is going to retire in his fifth World Cup, but he is already seeing what possibilities there are to do something in the coming years. In short, it is his life, it is his profession, he likes it a lot and enjoys it. He still has a couple more years as a coach," he shared.
For this reason, the spouse of the Mexico coach envisions the future in the short term: “If there is something, we value it together.” I think that whatever comes out, what we both like the most too. Going back to Europe is good, staying here is good. Everything's fine; "Whatever we like the most and that is a good option."
The importance of family
One of the powerful reasons for hanging up his work clothes is family and “Vasco” Aguirre values time with his grandchildren, especially because, in the words of his wife, he is a very pampering grandfather: "We want to be close to them and we liked these two years that we were here in Mexico, we enjoyed them a lot for that reason. We are now at an age that is not the same as 30, 40, when you move and leave; we already like a quiet life."
The retrospective of five decades
In the interview, Silvia Carrión also detailed what it has been like to be the life partner of the Mexico national team coach, on an adventure to different parts of the world: "We are going to celebrate 44 years of marriage in July. The truth is, our marriage has been a lot of adventure, because we have lived in seven countries and 14 cities. So, we have a lot of movement and we go from here to there. The children have already grown up and are married. We have two granddaughters and another on the way. So there has been a little bit of everything, but "We are fine, very happy. We are like boyfriends and we really like being together, we enjoy it."
