World Cup 2026: the exorbitant number of beers that have been sold in the stadiums, according to FIFA
The 2026 World Cup is already breaking records: FIFA reports an impressive number of beers sold and stadiums with 99.7% occupancy
Just over two weeks before the start of the 2026 World Cup, FIFA is already reporting historic numbers in both attendance and consumption inside the stadiums. According to official data, nearly 2.8 million beers have been sold, a figure that reflects the enormous mobilization of fans.
A significant detail is that the World Cup, for the first time in history, is held in three countries: the United States, Mexico and Canada. In addition, there are 16 more teams than in the most recent World Cups, which were 32, which implies that there are more soccer fans.
According to the statistics provided by the main governing body of world football, more than 2.8 million beers were sold (and continue to be sold) in the authorized stands of the stadiums.
But the data is even more striking when compared to water consumption, since during that same period just over a million bottles were sold. The difference confirms that a good part of the attendees chose to accompany the games with beer.

Hot dogs also broke records
Another curious fact disclosed by FIFA is the sale of 300,000 hot dogs in official stadiums.
To make the report more entertaining, the agency explained that if all those hot dogs were placed one after another, they would form a line of approximately 45 kilometers.
Likewise, he stated that it is a distance equivalent to the distance that separates the New York-New Jersey Stadium from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
A historic attendance at the World Cup
The 2026 edition has also established a new benchmark in public attendance. After more than 70 matches played in 16 venues distributed among the host countries, FIFA counted 4 million 644 thousand 549 spectators during the first phase of the championship.
The occupancy percentage reached an extraordinary 99.7% of the available capacity, with an average attendance of 64,508 fans per game.
In addition, fans from 210 countries and territories attended the matches, surpassing the previous record of approximately 3.5 million spectators recorded during the 1994 World Cup in the United States, FIFA highlights.
Among the matches that aroused the greatest interest among fans was the tie between Colombia and Portugal played in Miami, in addition to the match between Mexico and the Republic of Korea held in Guadalajara.
And best of all: there are another 20 days left of a 2026 World Cup that continues to break records.
