Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez has agreed to a fight with Robin Safar to defend the World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) cruiserweight titles on January 16, according to Mike Coppinger of The Boxing Association magazine. According to the journalist, Zurdo Ramirez's return would be in Palm Desert, California, and the same card will feature the rematch between Alexis Rocha and Raul Curiel. “Gilberto Ramirez and Robin Safar have reached an agreement to fight for Zurdo's WBA and WBO cruiserweight world titles on January 16 in Palm Desert, California, sources told The Ring. Zurdo must win to keep his scheduled May 2 fight against David Benavidez intact,” it announced.
