The survey, which included over 48,000 respondents from 367 districts, found that a notable percentage of people store essential passwords for ATMs, debit or credit cards, bank accounts, and app stores insecurely. Furthermore, the survey revealed that 34 percent of individuals admitted to sharing their passwords with others. This practice further exacerbates the risk of data breaches and financial fraud. The survey also noted a 300 percent increase in bank fraud incidents over the past two years, as reported by the Reserve Bank of India in May this year.

The findings also indicated that 53 percent of people reported either experiencing financial fraud themselves or knowing an immediate family member who has faced such fraud in the last five years.
