Prometheus, a French space company, is in talks with Indian startup Skyroot to launch its nanosatellites. The company itself has given information about this on Friday. The company said it is exploring the possibility of putting its nanosatellites into orbit using the Vikram-series of launch vehicles being developed by Indian start-up Skyroot Aerospace.

In fact, Skyroot co-founder Pawan Kumar Chandana had a discussion with Promethee President Olivier Piepsz on the sidelines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to France. After the discussion, both the companies issued a joint statement giving the information. The joint statement informed that Chandna and PIEPSZ have decided to study the integration of Skyroot's Vikram Launcher in the deployment process of the Zepetus Earth observation constellation.

Prometheus is a French new-space operator of a nanosatellite constellation for Earth observation. Promethee Space was founded by Piepsz and Jiao-Minh Nguyen in January 2020.

Former ISRO engineers Chandana and Daka formed a startup called Skyroot Aerospace Pvt Ltd in 2018. Chandana is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and Daka is an alumnus of IIT Madras. In ISRO, Chandana worked on important projects like the country's biggest rocket GSLV Mk-III, while Daka worked on all important hardware and software as a flight computer engineer in ISRO. Skyroot is the first startup that has signed an MoU with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to manufacture rockets.

The company had successfully launched India's first privately built space rocket Vikram-S in November last year. At the same time, now Skyroot Aerospace is developing three variants of Vikram rocket. Of these, Vikram-I will be capable of carrying a 480 kg payload into low Earth orbit. While Vikram-II is designed to fly with 595 kg cargo, Vikram-III will be capable of launching into a 500 km low-inclination orbit with 815 kg payload.
