Paying with your cell phone is already so common that almost no one questions it. Find the phone, unlock it, open the bank app, bring it closer to the reader. All of this happens in seconds, but it is still a series of steps that Inter's new line of wearable devices wants to reduce to just one. The company presented its line of wearables for payments, designed for those who want to leave the phone in their pocket and still complete a frictionless purchase.

Inter Ring and Inter Wristband, the two Inter options

Inter's proposal comes in two different formats, designed for different tastes. The Inter Ring is a smart ring that works as a contactless payment method, while the Inter Wristband is an adjustable bracelet with the same function, aimed at those who prefer something more discreet or less flashy on a daily basis.

Both devices use passive NFC technology, meaning they don't need a battery or screen to operate. This makes them waterproof and quite simple to maintain, since they are activated once from the Inter App and then are ready to use indefinitely without the user having to worry about charging them or checking any interface before paying.

In terms of design, the Inter Ring will be available in gold, silver, pink, black and gray, covering different styles and aesthetic preferences. The Inter Wristband, for its part, comes in black, orange and white, with an adjustable design designed for constant use. The idea behind this variety of colors is that each client can choose the option that best suits their routine, without the accessory feeling out of place with the rest of their outfit.

How Inter contactless payments work

Each wearable acts as an extension of the credit card that the customer already has with Inter. This means it shares the same credit limit and expiration date as the physical card, and all purchases, regardless of whether they were made with the ring, bracelet, or card, appear together on a single statement.

For transactions, Inter uses tokenization and encryption aligned with industry standards for contactless payments. Some purchases may require a PIN as an additional verification step, depending on the amount or merchant. And if the device is lost or stolen, the customer can deactivate or delete it directly from the Inter App, without the need for calls or additional procedures.

Rodrigo Gouveia, Executive Director of E-Commerce and Ecosystems at Inter, explained that these wearables seek to simplify customers' daily lives through technology, convenience and security. According to Gouveia, the goal is to make every payment experience more efficient, whether it's the time saved at checkout or the peace of mind of having industry-standard security measures in place.

Availability of Inter wearables in the United States

The launch of the Inter Ring and Inter Wristband comes first to a limited group of select customers in the United States. Inter plans to expand availability to more users later in 2026, although it has not yet shared an exact date for that broader rollout.

This move adds to Inter's strategy to expand beyond being just a financial platform. With these devices, the company seeks to integrate its services into accessories that people already use every day, expanding access to its ecosystem of products and services without depending exclusively on the phone as an entry point.
