Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has been convicted in the cipher case. During the hearing on Monday, the court said that the decision on the case will come on October 17. During the hearing, copies of the charge sheet were also handed over to the lawyers of Imran Khan and his co-accused former Foreign Minister Qureshi. Special court judge Abdul Hasnat Zulqarnain presided over the hearing. The PTI chief's lawyers met Imran Khan in a jail van, The Express Tribune newspaper reported. Prosecutor Zulfikar Abbas Naqvi, Imran Khan's lawyer Salman Safdar and the daughter and son of his party leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi were also present during the hearing in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail.

Prosecutor Naqvi informed that all necessary copies have been provided to the court. The report said that the court issued instructions to summon all the government witnesses along with the charge sheet on October 17. The charge sheet filed by the FIA in a special court also accused Imran Khan's key aide Qureshi of facilitating the former prime minister.

Imran Khan was arrested in August after he was booked for violating the Official Secrets Act by disclosing a secret diplomatic cable (cipher) sent by the country's embassy in Washington in March last year. Qureshi, the foreign minister in the Imran Khan-led government and vice-chairman of PTI, is also implicated in this case. In the last hearing of the case on September 26, his judicial custody was extended till October 10.
