Public anger against the law that controls the powers of the Supreme Court in Israel is increasing. Protests against this law have been going on here for the last five weeks. Thousands of protesters gathered on the streets of Israel's Tel Aviv on Saturday to protest against the controversial legal reforms of the Benjamin Netanyahu government. 

Crowds waving Israeli flags blocked the city's central Kalpan Street. The protesters termed Israel's new government as a threat to world peace. Let me tell you, under the new law, the Israeli government will get the right to overturn the decision of the Supreme Court.

According to local media, thousands of people demonstrated in Israel's Jerusalem, Haifa, Beersheba and several cities of the country including Herzliya and Tel Aliv. Former Prime Minister Yair Lapid was also involved in the protests in Haifa. He issued a video message saying that 'we will save our country because we do not want to live in an undemocratic country'.

Under the new law proposed by the Netanyahu government, the decision of the Supreme Court can be canceled by a simple majority of 61 MPs in the 120-seat Israeli Parliament. The proposed reform would also change the system through which judges are appointed. This would give politicians more control over the judiciary. This new judicial reform has also worried the LGBTQ+ community.
