Military engineers raised the flow of a river so that JD Vance could take a kayak ride
Vice President DJ Vance is back under scrutiny for allegedly abusing his power
James David Vance, the nation's vice president, is involved in a new scandal reported by The New York Times when it revealed that, in order to celebrate his birthday, he recently went with his family to the Little Miami River to navigate its waters, but because its level was not adequate, the Secret Service requested that the flow be redirected from another to comply with the Republican's wish. Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, revealed to the aforementioned news outlet that the Army Corps of Engineers was temporarily ordered to increase the flow of water from Caesar Creek Lake to the necessary level so that some vessels could temporarily transit through it. Gene Pawlik, Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist for the Army Corps of Engineers, confirmed the incident in a statement. It was determined that the operations would not negatively affect water levels downstream or upstream.
Stakeholders downstream were notified in advance of the slight increase in outflow, part of the letter states.
In this regard, Richard W. Painter, former White House ethics lawyer during George W. Bush's time as president, issued a message on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, where he says he is outraged to witness the high-handedness with which JD Vance often behaves.
It is outrageous that the Army Corps of Engineers would spend taxpayer money to increase water flow in a river so the @VP can go canoeing when budget cuts to the National Park Service have severely affected family vacations for everyone else, he wrote.
Although Taylor Van Kirk, the vice president's spokesperson, maintains that the Secret Service independently managed to raise the river's flow without informing Vance. This is not the first time that information has emerged highlighting the fussy behavior of President Trump's closest associate.
Recently, during a trip the Vance family took to Italy, when they visited the Roman Colosseum, the historic building was closed to the public for several hours.
Something similar happened during a visit by Vance and his wife, when they went to see the Taj Mahal, built in Agria, India.
