Miss Thailand Opal Suchata Chuangsri Wins Miss World 2025
The representative of Thailand beat 107 other women, among whom were several Latinas, who failed to shine this time
On Saturday, May 31, the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant was held at the HITEX Exhibition Center in Hyderabad, India, and was ultimately won by Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri.
The representative of the Asian country received the crown from the hands of Czech Krystyna Pyszková, who was Miss World 2024.
Opal Suchata's coronation took place within the framework of a pageant hosted by Indian Sachiin Kumbhar and Puerto Rican Stephanie Del Valle, who injected their own style to the contest that saw 108 beautiful women from the five continents parade, but only one took home the glory.
Behind Miss Thailand were Hasset Dereje (Miss Ethiopia), Maja Klajda (Miss Poland) and Aurélie Joachim (Miss Marinica), while Jéssica Pedroso (Miss Brazil) was the only Latina representative to finish within the Top 8 round.
In the Top 20 round were Latinas Guadalupe Amador (Miss Argentina), Valeria Pérez (Miss Puerto Rico), as well as Athenna Crosby (Miss USA).
More Latinas appear in the Top 40, such as Mayra Delgado (Miss Dominican Republic) and Karol Rodríguez (Miss Panama), while the rest failed to make it.
Who is Opal Suchata Chuangsri?
The new Miss World was born on September 20, 2003, in Phuket, Thailand. She is the daughter of Thanet Donkamnerd and Supatra Chuangsri. She speaks Thai, Chinese, and English.
At 16, she had a benign breast lump removed, which led her to create and spearhead campaigns on breast health and early detection.
She graduated from the prestigious Triam Udom Suksa School in Bangkok and is currently a student at Thammasat University, where she is majoring in global affairs with a political science minor in international relations.
The Miss World pageant was a bit of a comeback for her, as she finished third runner-up at Miss Universe 2024.
