A B-52 Stratofortress bomber, with eight people on board, crashed early Monday morning shortly after taking off from Edwards Air Force Base in Kern County, northeast of Lancaster.
In a message on social media, the air base reported that the accident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m.
“An Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bomber, with eight people aboard on a routine test mission, crashed shortly after takeoff at 11:20 a.m.,” Edwards Air Force Base said in a statement.
