Pentagon withdraws 1,350 troops of the National Guard from Los Angeles
Number of National Guard troops deployed in Los Angeles reduced to 300; Governor Newsom calls for withdrawal of all troops
The Pentagon announced this Wednesday the withdrawal of 1,350 National Guard troops who have been deployed in Los Angeles since June due to protests sparked by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.
The chief Pentagon spokesman, Sean Parnell, said that about 1,350 California National Guard troops have been released from their mission to protect federal buildings in Los Angeles.
“We greatly appreciate the support of the more than 5,000 Guard members and Marines who mobilized to Los Angeles to defend federal functions against the widespread lawlessness in the city,” Parnell said.
