Concert attendee dies after falling from an elevated area at Madison Square Garden in New York
They investigate the death of a man who fell during a performance by the band Goose. The group expressed their condolences and thanked emergency personnel
A 51-year-old man died Saturday night after falling from an elevated area while attending a concert by the rock band Goose at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) reported that the incident occurred at approximately 9:51 pm inside the precinct.
“Officers observed a 51-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive,” authorities said in a statement sent to the New York Post.
According to preliminary information, the assistant fell from an elevated position inside the stadium and was later transferred to Bellevue Hospital, where his death was confirmed.
So far, authorities have not specified from what height the fall occurred nor have they disclosed additional details about the circumstances of the event.
The band expressed its regret after learning of the incident
The Goose group reacted publicly after learning what happened during the show, corresponding to the second date of their presentation at the emblematic New York venue.
“We are deeply saddened and devastated to learn of the tragic event that occurred during tonight's show,” the group said in a statement.
The band also expressed their condolences to the people affected and thanked the emergency personnel and the venue team for the attention provided.
Goose is made up of Rick Mitarotonda, Trevor Weeks, Peter Anspach and Cotter Ellis.
The concert continued until the end of the repertoire
According to reports spread by attendees on social networks, venue staff cleared several rows from the area where the incident occurred.
Despite the emergency, the show continued and the group completed its planned repertoire before ending the presentation shortly before midnight.
The performance was part of the band's Summer 2026 tour, a series of performances that includes 27 concerts in 19 cities in the United States and Canada.
The event was also broadcast live through digital platforms.
Authorities are still investigating to determine how the fall occurred.
