AMLO reappears and warns that he will take to the streets in case of an attempted coup and to defend Sheinbaum
Andres Lopez Obrador presents his new book titled 'Grandeza' and announced that next year he will release another one titled 'Gloria'
Former Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador reappeared this Sunday in a social media message to present and promote his book titled 'Grandeza'.
During a video recorded at his ranch La Chingada, located in the state of Tabasco, the former Mexican president warned that there would only be three reasons, if necessary, that would lead him to leave his self-imposed exile and take to the streets: if there were an attack against democracy; to defend Sheinbaum if there were coup attempts and harassment, and to defend Mexico's sovereignty.
“I would go out to defend democracy, I would also go out to defend her. If there are coup attempts, if she is harassed, I will go out, then yes. I don't think it will happen, but anyway, it's not a bad idea for people to know under what circumstances I might go out. Yes, I would go out into the street. And the third reason I would go out into the street would be to defend Mexico's sovereignty because our country is free and independent, it is sovereign. We are not colonies of any foreign country,” he warned.
Lopez Obrador clarified that he decided to present his book via social media and not in a public square so as not to “overshadow President Sheinbaum,” and he also asked all Mexicans to continue supporting her “because it is still the season for vultures, buzzards, and hawks.”
“She is the one in charge and she is doing very well. We mustn't divide ourselves, we must stand together, united… We must strongly support the president; she is the best president in the world. We are incredibly fortunate to have her. Look at the presidents and heads of state in other countries and compare. Furthermore, she is faithful to the people, to the principles of the transformation, maintaining that only the people can save the people,” he asserted. After showing his new book on camera, Lopez Obrador said he chose to leave the public sphere so as not to feel “irreplaceable.” “It's not a charade; I'm retired… I'm not actively involved now.”“I am working on the theory (of politics),providing the foundation for what we did,” he stated. The former Mexican president said that this first of two books, to be published after his retirement, discusses the greatness of Mexico before the Spanish conquest, with the Olmec and Mayan cultures. Meanwhile, the second book, titled 'Gloria,' will be published next year and will focus on recounting the “fruitful political history” of his movement. of oligarchic rule.” “But this is a different story,” he asserted. Asserting that he lives alone on his ranch and that his wife, Beatriz Gutierrez Muller, sometimes visits him because she remains in Mexico City to look after their 18-year-old son, Jesus Ernesto, Lopez Obrador said he decided to present his book via social media rather than in a public square because “we shouldn't overshadow the president” Sheinbaum “She's the one in charge, and she's doing a job. great job. We shouldn't be divided; we should stand together, united,” the former president stated, and asked for support for Sheinbaum “because it's still the season for vultures, buzzards, and hawks,” he explained.
