A food delivery man in Chicago starred in a scene that is already viral on social media: escaping on his bicycle from at least eight Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents who tried to arrest him in the street.

The episode, recorded and distributed by Christopher Sweat, co-founder of Gray Stak Media, has amassed more than 3.5 million views on the X platform.

The video begins by showing a group of ICE agents stationed on a sidewalk in the city center. The officers stood motionless until one of them gave the order: “Grab him!”

At that moment, they all launched themselves at a cyclist who was picking up something from the ground next to his electric bike.

The man, identified as a delivery man, seemed surprised and immediately tried to flee. He pushed his bike clumsily, weaving between pedestrians and dodging the agents’ attempts to surround him.

At one point, the cyclist deftly jumped onto his bike and, after landing abruptly, began pedaling at full speed. Although some agents continued the chase, they soon gave up, returning to the sidewalk without being able to stop him.

The delivery man disappeared from the scene, leaving behind an episode that has been shared and commented on by thousands of users.

Troop deployment in Chicago

Illinois officials warned this Monday of an imminent deployment of the National Guard in Chicago, while a memo from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) publicly requested the deployment of 100 troops to the state.

Governor JB Pritzker argued that federal agents are intervening against citizens who are supposedly protesting “peacefully.” The demonstrations have erupted after the increase in ICE agents in Chicago.

Likewise, Mayor Brandon Johnson pointed out that the deployment of armed border agents is “a trick” that is not linked to public safety.

“It's about politics, money and power. The president is using his militarized force exactly as he intended: to further his political goals. He wants to militarize our cities, whether through ICE, the National Guard, the U.S. Army, or the Armed Forces,” Johnson said.
