Cruz Azul close to finalizing its new stadium in Mexico City
The Cruz Azul board met with the head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, and announced that there will soon be news about the new stadium
The Cruz Azul board and Mexico City authorities took significant steps forward in the construction of the new stadium for La Maquina Celeste (The Sky Blue Machine) in the Aztec capital, after the meeting held this Wednesday between Cruz Azul president Victor Velazquez and Clara Brugada, head of government.
Both leaders, according to their own social media posts, had a very important conversation to discuss strategic issues related to the construction of the new Cruz Azul stadium in the nation's capital.
The meeting took place at the mayor's main office, located in City Hall in the heart of Mexico City. This was the second formal meeting between the two parties to realize Cruz Azul's long-held dream.
According to press reports, the central topic of the conversation was the Cruz Azul stadium, which has undoubtedly generated much anticipation fans of the team and various sectors of the city, especially given the potential benefits and conflicts that the construction of a stadium with a capacity of approximately 50,000 people could bring to the sporting, social, and urban landscape.
For now, Victor Velazquez shared a message on his social media that conveyed an air of optimism about the new stadium on land in the northern part of the city.
Mexico City: “I thank our Head of Government, Clara Brugada, for today's productive meeting. We will have news for you very soon.” Clara Brugada commented through the same media outlets that: “We had a very fruitful meeting with the La Cruz Azul Cooperative” and added that: “Very soon, we will be able to announce good news,” which can be interpreted as significant progress for the construction of this long-awaited facility. The discussion also suggests a willingness to move forward with this project, especially since the impact of keeping Cruz Azul in the metropolitan capital would have more benefits than drawbacks. especially under the message of strengthening sports practice, which aligns with the mayor's ecological corridor project being built along Calzada de Tlalpan, one of the most important thoroughfares in Mexico City. Furthermore, the meeting sends a message to the public that the authorities support the construction of this new venue, rather than rejecting the project as happened with previous administrations. The area where the new stadium is planned is in the Azcapotzalco borough, in the northwest part of Mexico City, bordering the municipalities of Tlalnepantla de Baz and Naucalpan de Juarez (State of Mexico) to the north and west, the Gustavo A. Madero borough to the east, and the Miguel Hidalgo and Cuauhtemoc boroughs to the south.
