Cuba conducts military exercises amid tensions with the US

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel led a series of military exercises accompanied by high-ranking military officials, on another day dedicated to the country's defense activities amid tensions with the United States.
“This (the military exercises) takes on significant importance at this time (…) given the hegemonic offensive being carried out by the United States government,” he asserted. Diaz-Canel referring to the January 3 attack in Venezuela that ended with the fall of President Nicolas Maduro.
The Cuban leader witnessed a tactical demonstration exercise at a tank unit in Havana, then participated in shooting practice and other “combat actions” with university students, and also visited an air defense unit, Presidential Press stated.
This was the third consecutive Saturday dedicated to activities related to the country's defense following the US military operation of January 3 in Caracas.
Preparing for a “State of War”
These exercises include ambush drills and training for mine laying, civilian protection, and combined classes in areas such as military health, defense against weapons of mass destruction, and others.
Last week, the National Defense Council (CDN) approved the “plans and measures” to transition to a “State of War,” although state media did not offer details of the Two weeks after the US attacks on Venezuela, the Havana government has intensified its verbal confrontation with Washington.
