DHS orders reinforced security at ICE facilities after shooting in Dallas
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will “immediately increase security” at ICE facilities nationwide following the Dallas shooting.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said it will “immediately increase security” at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities nationwide following Wednesday's deadly shooting at the ICE field office in Dallas, where one detained immigrant died and others were criticized.
DHS shared the information in a post on X: "In light of today's horrific shooting, which appears to be motivated by hatred toward ICE, Secretary Noem has directed DHS to immediately begin strengthening security at ICE facilities nationwide. This shooting should serve as a wake-up call to the far left: their rhetoric about ICE has consequences."
A lone gunman opened fire Wednesday at an ICE field office in Dallas, killing one detained immigrant, while two other immigrants were in critical condition.
The gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No ICE agents were injured in the shooting.
Authorities identified the suspected gunman as Joshua Jahn, 29, of Collin County, Texas.
Authorities reported that anti-ICE messages were found on bullet casings. The shooting is being investigated as an act of targeted violence.
