Evacuation orders extended for Sandy Fire in Ventura County
Simi Valley residents must follow the warnings from authorities due to the Sandy fire; evacuation warnings reach Los Angeles County
Evacuation orders were expanded for neighborhoods in Simi Valley, in Ventura County, as well as alerts for several areas, including in Los Angeles County, due to the Sandy wildfire, which began this Monday morning.
The fire started at approximately 10:50 a.m. in the 600 block of Sandy Avenue, in Simi Valley, and that had spread across 1,386 acres, with 5% containment, according to Cal Fire data published Tuesday morning.
The causes of the flames remain under investigation. However, Simi Valley Police Department Sergeant Richard Morton said a person called at 10:17 a.m. to report that he had started a brush fire after hitting a rock with his tractor.
