Minimum wages increase in 19 states starting January 1
Most states will have wage adjustments reaching up to $16 per hour
Starting January 1, 2026, at least 19 states in the United States will adjust their minimum wages, some already established in annual increases and others being brought in line with high inflation.
Currently, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, and although for many the wage increase This will represent higher costs for businesses, consequently suppressing job growth; for others, it is a necessary measure given the high cost of living that has led many Americans to live paycheck to paycheck.
The minimum wage increases will be implemented in two parts; some states will see them on January 1st, while others will see them by the end of 2026.
