Russia calls to evacuate embassies in Ukraine in case of possible attack
Moscow warned that it will respond if Ukraine interrupts a parade in commemoration of the upcoming May 9 in the Russian capital
Russia urged foreign embassies in the capital of Ukraine to ensure the evacuation of their staff and their citizens in the event of a Russian attack against the city, Moscow's Ministry of Affairs reported on Wednesday.
In a note to foreign embassies, Russia warned that it would launch “an inevitable retaliatory attack” against kyiv, if Ukraine interrupted the 9 commemorations May in Moscow, and urged them to “ensure the timely evacuation of personnel from diplomatic missions and other types, as of citizens, from the city of Kiev.”
Russia fears that Ukraine will attack Moscow on the day of the military parade on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, and called on foreign diplomats to leave the Ukrainian capital.
The report recalled that the Russian Defense Ministry had already warned of the consequences of a possible attempt to thwart “a holy holiday for all Russians”, and urged to take these statements with the “utmost seriousness”.
Russia did not previously join the unilateral indefinite truce proposed by the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, since last at midnight, in response to another proposal previously made by the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, on the cessation of hostilities by May 9.
Moscow didn't comment on Zelensky's proposal, who found that the attacks continued, so it could say that the truce was not accepted.
At the same time, Russian regional authorities reported that kyiv did not respect its own truce, since the drone attacks against Russian territory continued.
