At least three people were injured early Sunday morning in a shooting outside an Oklahoma State University (OSU) residence hall in Stillwater, about 50 miles northeast of Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma State University Police Department reported that the shooting occurred around 3:40 am, when a group of people were returning to the Carreker East dormitory after attending a private party off campus.
According to University Police Chief Michael Beckner, authorities were notified after the victims sought help at various locations off campus.
One of the victims is an OSU student
In a statement, police confirmed that one of the injured people is a student at the university. All three victims were taken to hospitals in Oklahoma City and Tulsa where they are receiving treatment.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in the case and asked anyone with information to contact the OSU Police Department.
There is no active threat to the university community
Both the university and police confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the student community. The school spokesperson said the campus is secure and operating normally.
The shooting has raised concerns among students and staff, although officials stressed the incident appears to be an isolated incident following the private party.
