One of the 10 officials of the state of Sinaloa accused by the government of the United States for alleged links to drug trafficking is already in the hands of the authorities.
This is Gerardo Mérida Sánchez, former Secretary of Public Security of Sinaloa, who last May 11 entered from Hermosillo, Sonora, and crossed the Nogales Gateway to Arizona to surrender.

Mérida Sánchez, who is charged with alleged links to the Sinaloa Cartel, will be transferred to the city of New York to be placed at the disposal of the Southern Federal Court.
Documents from the District Court of state that Mérida Sánchez is designated by the United States Department of Justice allegedly receiving bribes from the Los Chapitos faction, of the Sinaloa Cartel, to protect their criminal operations and protect their activities with police support.

“As Secretary of Public Security of Sinaloa, Sánchez received bribes from Los Chapitos and in exchange, gave Los Chapitos, among other things, prior alerts from re "given authorities in drug laboratories, so that Los Chapitos could move their drugs and laboratory equipment before the raids," states the indictment.
