Vladimir Putin rules out having agreed with Donald Trump to end the war with Ukraine
Vladimir Putin denied having established an agreement with Donald Trump to end the war that began more than four years ago with Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin, president of Russia, rejects any option of having established an agreement with Donald Trump, US president, to end the war with Ukraine after more than four years of enormous losses for both nations.
In August of last year, during a work summit held in Alaska, both political leaders sat down to talk for three hours with the aim of ending the war.
The big absentee from the event was Volodymyr Zelensky, president of Ukraine, since Trump decided that it was not convenient for him to participate, this given that he would be the one who would presumably be in charge of opening the way for him to sit down and initially talk about a ceasefire and then definitive peace.
"We had an extremely productive meeting. There is no agreement until there is an agreement. We are not there," said the New York tycoon after the meeting with his Russian counterpart.
Almost a year has passed, the war continues without any of the countries being declared the winner of the war.
However, inexplicably, Kremlin officials recently mentioned that the foundations for peace had finally been laid between the United States and Ukraine.
Given the confusion generated, Putin had to go out to correct his collaborators and, in an interview given to state television, he emphasized that he only spoke with Trump without committing to anything, since he is convinced that he is doing the right thing in trying to recover a territory that historically should be governed by Moscow.
"No agreement was reached in Anchorage. Nobody signed anything, but we talked about certain possibilities to end the conflict in Ukraine, and the commitments that were discussed were precisely the proposals that the American side presented to us," he said.
The Russian president's problem lies in the fact that the financial support obtained by Ukraine allowed him to resupply drones to the point of recovering a strip of the lost territories by pushing back Putin's army, which does not make him happy at all due to the low blow it represents for the morale of his soldiers to continue without subduing a significantly diminished adversary.
