The US reveals that the text of the agreement with Iran will be published in 24 or 48 hours and plans to sign it in Swit
Washington assures that the document will be disclosed before starting technical negotiations and prior to its official signing scheduled in Switzerland.
A senior official in the Administration of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, reported this Monday that the full text of the memorandum of understanding negotiated with Iran will be released in the next 24 to 48 hours, amid diplomatic efforts to end tensions between both countries and guarantee the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the EFE agency, the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that once the document is published, a phase of technical negotiations will begin to develop the implementation mechanisms of the pact. "Those details will be made public in the next 24 to 48 hours. Then we will get into the actual technical discussions later this week," he stated.
The same source indicated that the official signing of the agreement is scheduled for next Friday in Switzerland, where representatives of both parties would formalize a process that seeks to reduce the military and diplomatic tensions registered in recent weeks. As he explained, the US delegation will be led by Vice President JD Vance, while the memorandum would have already been signed electronically by Trump and Vance himself. On the Iranian side, the document was signed by the president of Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf.
The official also acknowledged that the understanding faces criticism in both Washington and Tehran. “The toughest sectors on both sides, in Iran, where there are protests, and in the United States, where some maintain that an agreement with Tehran is never possible, are making a lot of noise, but not all the details have yet been disclosed,” he said, suggesting that the publication of the text will allow a more precise evaluation of the commitments reached.
Although the US Administration maintains that the agreement represents an important diplomatic advance, so far fundamental aspects such as verification mechanisms, the scope of nuclear commitments, possible measures related to economic sanctions or guarantees on free maritime navigation have not been publicly revealed. It is expected that these elements will be part of the document that will be released in the coming days.
One of the central points of the understanding is the Strait of Hormuz, the maritime passage located between Iran and Oman through which a significant part of the oil and liquefied natural gas traded worldwide transits. Any alteration in this route usually causes concern in international energy markets and can translate into increases in crude oil prices and higher costs for the global economy.
For now, the US Administration maintains that the document represents an opportunity to reduce tensions in the Middle East and open a new stage of dialogue with Iran, while the international community remains attentive to the details that will be published and the steps that will follow after the eventual signing in Switzerland.
