White House asks to investigate if someone at the UN turned off the escalator a Trump and his eventual dismissal
Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump experienced an awkward moment when the escalator they were riding stopped
During their visit to the UN headquarters, President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump experienced an awkward moment when an escalator stopped just as they were to get on.
Although it was a minor incident, it was captured on several Cameras present at the headquarters of the international organization and in his speech before the General Assembly, Trump made reference to the mishap with his characteristic sarcasm:
“These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a malfunctioning escalator and a malfunctioning teleprompter.”
Hours later, White House administrator Karoline Leavitt said that if someone at the UN intentionally turned off the escalator they got on, that person should be fired.
“If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator just as the president and the first lady (Melania Trump) were about to get on, they should be fired and investigated immediately,” Leavitt posted on her official account on the social network teleprompter's operation, saying it was not working and adding that "all I can say is that whoever is operating this teleprompter is in serious trouble," prompting laughter from the world leaders present.
