The Finance Ministry on Tuesday released the GST collection figures for the month of January. According to the data till 5 pm on January 31, Rs 1,55,922 crore GST has been collected. In this, Rs 28,963 crore was collected as CGST, Rs 36,730 crore as SGST and Rs 79,599 crore as IGST. In the amount of IGST, Rs 37,118 crore was collected as tax on import of goods.

According to the Finance Ministry data, 10630 crores were collected as cess. In this, Rs 768 crore has been recovered as surcharge on import of goods. According to the government data, this is the second highest amount of GST collection in the last one year. Earlier in April 2022, GST collection of Rs 1.68 lakh crore was done.
