The price of gasoline in California increased 1.6 cents per gallon as of this Tuesday, July 1, due to the annual fuel tax adjustment in the state.
This increase is part of the special tax that is applied each year to cover the maintenance and repair of roads and highways in the Golden State.
Because of the state tax, gas prices increase by just over a cent for regular gasoline and just under a cent for diesel. The new gas tax adds 61.2 cents per gallon to what you pay at the pump.
