Indian-origin policy expert Nisha Desai Biswal will be the deputy CEO of US finance agency International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). The US Senate has approved his nomination for the post. Biswal will now serve as the deputy CEO of the US International Development Finance Corporation. US President Joe Biden had in early March expressed his intention to nominate Nisha Biswal for the post of deputy CEO at the US International Development Finance Corporation.

After getting the new responsibility, Biswal expressed happiness by tweeting. "I am very pleased and honored to be approved by the Senate to serve as Deputy CEO of DFC," she wrote. "Thankful to the many friends and colleagues who have supported me in the Senate... I will do my best to make you proud," she added. I have been privileged to work with the talented team at the US Chamber.

Nisha previously served as Senior Vice President of International Strategy and Global Initiatives at the US Chamber of Commerce. Biswal served as Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs at the US State Department from 2013 to 2017, where she oversaw the US-India Strategic Partnership, including the launch of the annual US-India Strategic and Commercial Dialogue.

Biswal also served as the Assistant Administrator for Asia at the US Agency for International Development (USAID). During this time he directed and supervised USAID's programs and operations throughout South, Central and Southeast Asia. He has also spent over a decade on Capitol Hill. Where he has served as Director of Staff on Appropriations as well as the State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee on Appropriations as well as the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the House of Representatives (the lower house of the US Congress).

Biswal serves as chair of the Advisory Committee for Voluntary Foreign Assistance and serves on the boards of the National Democratic Institute and the US Institute of Peace International Advisory Council.
