This Friday, July 10, the peso closes with a slight recovery in a difficult week for the currency. The price of the dollar in Mexico begins this day with few changes. However, it is essential to know this value if you plan to send remittances or any international transaction.
At the opening this Friday, the US dollar is trading at $17.52 Mexican pesos, a decrease of 0.18% compared to the previous close of $17.55 pesos, according to Dow Jones data. On average, the price of the dollar today in Mexico is $17.51 pesos per greenback.
During the day on Thursday, the peso advanced against the dollar thanks to a favorable environment for the markets. The Mexican currency registered a gain of 0.23%, driven by June inflation data in Mexico and the expectation that the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) will keep its reference interest rate unchanged in the short term.
Although the recent behavior favored the peso, the dollar accumulates a weekly increase of 0.22%. In contrast, if compared to the same period last year, the US currency maintains a drop of 6.16%.
The exchange rate has also shown less volatility. It currently stands at 6.05%, below the reference level of 7.57%. This indicates that the dollar's variations have been more moderate than usual. In other words, we are in a stage of relative stability in the exchange market.
The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) reported that the official closing on Thursday, July 9, was $17.5455 pesos per dollar, a figure calculated from the average of banking operations carried out during the day. However, because the price of the dollar varies constantly throughout the day, the exchange rate ended the day around $17.54 pesos per US currency.
Likewise, Banxico announced that the FIX exchange rate, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), was established at $17.5350 pesos per dollar for this Friday. This value works as an official reference for various contracts, financial operations and procedures carried out in Mexico.
Meanwhile, the exchange rate for the payment of obligations denominated in dollars was set at $17.5993 pesos per currency. This value is the one used when a debt agreed in dollars must be settled in Mexican territory in accordance with current legislation.
