The FBI has seized an “exceptionally unique” Mercedes-Benz linked to Canadian drug trafficker and former Olympic athlete Ryan Wedding, which is valued at more than $13 million.
The FBI announced in a message on its social media the The seizure of a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR two-seater convertible, of which only six units are believed to exist worldwide. The CLK GTR is classified as a supercar built by Mercedes-Benz and AMG to compete in the GT1 Championship in 1997 and later in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it was renamed the CLK LM. The German manufacturer produced 28 units of the vehicle, including one for the Sultan of Brunei: two prototypes, 20 coupes, and six convertibles. The CLK GTR convertible, identified by some media outlets as chassis number 5, was seized by the FBI in Los Angeles during an operation to dismantle the Wedding network. Wedding is included by US authorities on the list of the country's 10 most wanted criminals and is considered a "modern-day Pablo Escobar."
