Toyota decided to give a new boost to one of its largest SUVs with an update that goes far beyond a simple aesthetic touch-up. The Sequoia 2027 arrives with a more elegant appearance, an important technological leap and a variant designed for those looking to leave the pavement with greater confidence.

The model, developed by the Toyota Motor North America teams together with the CALTY Design Research studio, seeks to respond to the needs of drivers who use their vehicle both for daily routines and for family trips and adventure getaways.

The brand also reinforces its commitment to connectivity and driving assistance systems to keep the Sequoia relevant within the large SUV segment.

Trailhunter, the great novelty for off-road lovers

The main addition for 2027 is the Trailhunter package, developed on the SR5 version and focused on offering better off-road capabilities from the factory.

Among its new features are 18-inch Michelin LTX Trail tires, an improved Old Man Emu suspension, front rescue hooks and greater protection in the lower part of the vehicle to face more complicated terrain.

The package also incorporates technologies such as Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control and a locking rear differential, elements that help improve traction and control when road conditions become demanding. Added to this are exclusive bronze-colored wheels and distinctive features of this version.

A renewed design with a more refined air

Toyota worked on a new visual identity for the Sequoia, with a front that conveys greater presence without leaving aside the robust character that has always distinguished the model.

The grille, bumper and various exterior details were redesigned to offer a more modern image. Depending on the version, reinterpreted chrome finishes and new decorative elements also appear that seek to bring the SUV closer to an audience that values ​​both design and functionality.

The rectangular fog lights integrate better into the whole and the lower front area has a cleaner appearance, reinforcing the feeling of solidity.

More connectivity and new digital features

The interior also receives a major update thanks to the latest generation of Toyota's multimedia system. Every Sequoia now comes standard with a 14-inch display with a smartphone-inspired interface and customizable widgets.

Another novelty is the integrated Dash Cam type camera, capable of storing automatic or manually activated recordings using the vehicle's exterior cameras.

The digital key is also evolving, which can now be managed from the native Apple, Google or Samsung applications, allowing the vehicle to be locked, unlocked and started from compatible devices. In addition, it is possible to share access with up to five additional drivers.

As a complement, the SUV incorporates a 2.4 kW inverter, a useful feature for powering electrical equipment during outdoor activities, traveling or camping.

Reinforced security and a range for different profiles

The 2027 Sequoia equips the new generation of the Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 package, which improves detection capacity and updates its safety assistants.

Among its functions are the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane keep assist, lane following assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams and proactive driving assistance.

The range will be made up of the SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro and Capstone versions, offering alternatives for those who prioritize comfort, family driving or off-road capabilities.

Toyota reported that final specifications and pricing for the 2027 Sequoia will be announced closer to the start of production, scheduled for fall 2026.
