Armed men ambush police officers in Michoacán, leaving 6 officers and a civilian injured
The criminal group responsible for the attack could be the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel, due to its presence in the area.
An armed attack against elements of the Civil Guard in the municipality of Zamora, Michoacán, left six police officers injured and one civilian injured, after alleged members of a criminal group opened fire on the uniformed officers while they were carrying out operational tasks in the region.
According to information from the Attorney General's Office of the State of Michoacán, the attack occurred in the community of La Estancia de Amezcua. After the attack, a security operation was deployed and investigations began to clarify the facts and find those responsible.
Official reports indicate that six members of the Civil Guard were injured, in addition to a young man who suffered collateral injuries during the confrontation.
State authorities reported that four of the agents are in serious condition, while the other two remain stable and are receiving medical attention.
Versions spread by different media suggest that the attackers would be linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), an organization with a presence in the area. However, authorities continue with investigations to confirm the identity of those responsible and determine the exact circumstances of the attack.
After the attack, state and federal corporations reinforced surveillance in the Zamora region to try to locate the attackers, who managed to escape after the confrontation.
