A former Hispanic candidate for California Congress was sentenced to four years in federal prison for plotting with his mother and a friend to embezzle more than $250,000 of his campaign funds, the Department of Justice said. (DOJ).
Omar Navarro, 37, was accused of using approximately $100,000 to pay for trips to Las Vegas to defend himself against harassment charges.
Navarro also admitted to spending the money on video games for the Nintendo Switch, according to a statement from the DOJ.
