Nick Reiner is no longer on suicide watch
The 32-year-old man accused of murdering his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner has stopped wearing a suicide vest
In a recent twist in the legal proceedings that have rocked Hollywood, Los Angeles County authorities confirmed that Nick Reiner, son of the late director Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, is no longer on suicide watch.
The 32-year-old, who faces two counts of murder in the deaths of his parents in mid-2016, has been removed from suicide watch.
In December, he remains incarcerated at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. According to sheriff's office sources consulted by People magazine, the mental health evaluation team decided to remove the strict supervision he had been under since his admission on December 15. As a result of this change, Reiner stopped wearing the suicide vest he wore while handcuffed and barefoot at his first hearing. He now wears the standard yellow jumpsuit and blue pants. However, his isolation persists: Nick remains in High Observation Housing (HOH) and can only be transferred to the general population if a judge orders it. This adjustment to his prison regime comes amid serious revelations about his mental state. Recent reports indicate that Reiner suffers from schizophrenia, a diagnosis that reportedly worsened weeks before the crime due to erratic changes in his medication and alleged substance abuse. According to sources close to him, his behavior became “dangerous” before the tragic events at the family residence. Next court appearance: This Wednesday, January 7, the legal proceedings against his son, Nick Reiner, took a new turn in the New York courts. The judge decided to postpones the formal reading of charges against Nick Reiner, 32, once again. Although the hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, the proceedings were halted due to last-minute changes. The main reason for the delay was the request from Reiner's private attorney to be relieved of the case. Given this situation, the judge determined that the defendant will be represented by a public defender. which requires additional time for the new legal team to review the evidence.
