The discovery of an American couple in a grave in Mexico occurred after the murderers' confession
Investigations indicate that the couple went to an appointment in the southern area of ??Mexico City on the day of their disappearance.
The investigations into the disappearance and murder of American citizens Guillermo Jaffet Hidalgo Ortiz and Zafar Padamsee Mawani recorded significant progress with the arrest of three people allegedly involved in the case, who would have confessed their participation in the events and revealed the place where the victims were buried.
According to reports released by journalist Carlos Jiménez and taken up by various media, the detainees were identified as Gabriel “N”, Roberick “N” and Yesenia “N”.
The captures were carried out by elements of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), in coordination with ministerial authorities.
According to the information available, the suspects confessed to having buried the victims in the area known as Valle del Silencio, located in the area of La Marquesa, in the municipality of Ocoyoacac, State of Mexico.
Thanks to this data, the authorities located a clandestine grave where the bodies of both men were found.
Guillermo Jaffet Hidalgo Ortiz, 57, and Zafar Padamsee Mawani, 56, were last seen on May 20.
Both resided in Chicago but moved to Mexico for business-related activities. After losing contact with family and friends, an intense search began that involved Mexican and American authorities.
Investigations indicate that the couple went to an appointment in the southern area of Mexico City on the day of their disappearance. Subsequently, unusual banking movements were detected in accounts linked to the victims, one of the lines of investigation that continues to be analyzed by the authorities.
During the search efforts in La Marquesa, two other bodies were also located in a second excavation. So far, authorities have not officially confirmed the identity of those human remains.
The Attorney General's Office of Mexico City and the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico keep investigations open to clarify the motive for the double homicide, determine the degree of participation of the detainees and establish whether there are more people involved in the crime.
