Is J Balvin planning to do a collaboration with Shakira?
After years of rumors of alleged enmity, the Colombian reggaeton singer spoke about his relationship with the Barranquilla native and the possibility of singing together
J Balvin fans are speculating about a possible collaboration between the reggaeton singer and Shakira, after recent statements by the singer of "Mi gente" .
In a recent live broadcast on his TikTok account, J Balvin referred to his current relationship with Shakira and the possibility of working together.
In the Live, the Colombian singer highlighted that, although he has not yet done a musical collaboration with the Barranquilla native, he does not rule out doing so at some point because he thinks it would be something cool.
I haven't done a collaboration with Shakira yet, it would be very cool, I met her recently at the Met Gala and I had the opportunity to talk to her and she is a very sweet woman, she surprised me a lot, said the reggaeton singer, who recently released his album Mixteip.
J Balvin and Shakira's recent rapprochement at this year's Met Gala comes after years of rumors of a supposed rivalry, fueled by misunderstandings on social media.
The rumors of a supposed rivalry arose from a controversial reaction by the reggaeton singer in an interview with the Black Eyed Peas in 2020 that upset Shakira's fans.
At the time, Will.i.am commented that you had to be very flexible when working with Shakira, which made J Balvin laugh, something that the Barranquilla native's fans did not take very well.
Another episode that fueled the controversy was when J Balvin posted a video paying tribute to Colombia but did not mention Shakira, which infuriated his followers, who harshly criticized Balvin.
However, the relationship between the two appears to have changed. This year, during a concert in Atlanta, J Balvin paid tribute to Shakira, recognizing the impact she has had on Latin music.
