Lucero relives the day she met Celine Dion during her honeymoon with Mijares
The Mexican shared the details of the encounter that occurred while she was on vacation in Tokyo, Japan with her now ex-husband
Despite their divorce in 2011, Manuel Mijares and Lucero maintain a great friendship as a result of co-parenting their children. This has also led to her presence before the media being characterized as relaxed and open to opening the trunk of memories of her marriage.
And it was in one of the most recent talks with the press with 'America's Sweetheart' that mention was made of the unexpected encounter that she and her now ex-husband had with the Canadian singer Céline Dion during their honeymoon trip.
According to Lucero's account, everything happened when they arrived in the capital of Japan, Tokyo, because when they settled into their hotel, the tour guide told them that the singer of "My Heart Will Go On" would be performing at the Budoka Theater.
Convinced that it would be a great idea to attend the performance, the couple was about to buy their tickets when, suddenly, they realized that they were staying at the same hotel as the multi-award-winning artist.
"It was very shocking because suddenly we were in the hotel getting to know... and I turned around and I see a woman coming out of the locker room with wet hair, without makeup, and I say to Mijares: 'It's Céline Dion, I swear to God it's Céline Dion!'" she detailed in an interview with NMás.
Regardless of her own superstar status, Lucero could not hide her emotion: "I was already shaking. I could not stop looking at her, I see that she is going to sit at a little table there in the cafeteria of the gym, she was with some people there and I say: 'She already sat down, I'm going to go say hi to her,' and Manuel: 'No, please, let's go,'" she recalled.
Regarding the interaction she had with Céline Dion, the star of the program 'Juego de Voces' assured that it was everything she expected and more. “I started talking to her in English: 'I admire you so much, we love you.' Then she, super nice, impressed me with her good vibes and her coolness and her simplicity, but she didn't speak, she made gestures and a person she was with told us: 'Excuse her, she can't speak because before the concerts, two or three days before, she doesn't speak,She takes care of her voice, she saves her voice and doesn't speak,'" she said.
Lucero indicated that during her interaction with Dion she found out the reason for her trip (her honeymoon), a detail that motivated her to prepare a surprise for them that they received the next day.
"Hours or so later the next day in our room there were two tickets to go see her at the Budokan Theater, row 5, and I was like jaw to the floor and said: 'She's my super, super friend, she's the best.' Of course we went to see her at the show, I felt like she was my sister, I never imagined that I would be able to see her and she was wonderful," she said in closing.
