Netflix Scandal returns to the platform after 5 years canceled
The platform will have all seven seasons of the series and its 124 episodes available for fans to enjoy
The streaming platform Netflix confirmed the return of one of its most-watched series after five years of absence from the application. It's about Scandal, a drama related to politics, especially the White House.
The television production was created by Shonda Rhimes and stars Kerry Washington, who plays Olivia Pope, a former White House Communications Director who founds her own crisis management firm, Olivia Pope and Associates.
Since June 17, the American series has been available on the platform, where users can enjoy its 7 seasons and 124 episodes, which originally aired on ABC between 2012 and 2018.
The series became a critical and audience success. Fans of the audiovisual production were able to watch all of these episodes originally through Netflix for a considerable time, from 2014 to 2020.
The plot of “Scandal”
“Scanda” is a political thriller that originally aired on ABC, where Olivia Pope, a character based on Judy Smith, press advisor to the George HW Bush administration, won numerous awards during its run and remains a critically acclaimed series.
Pope’s job is to protect the reputation and future of the political and business elite in Washington DC, while facing extreme situations and scandals that threaten to destroy careers and lives.
Olivia’s character is characterized by being charismatic, determined, vulnerable and, above all, willing to cross ethical lines when the situation demands it. The series is inspired by the real-life figure of Judy Smith, who served as a communications advisor and co-executive producer on the project, bringing unique realism and authenticity to the plots.
Interest in the series increases when Pope begins a love affair with the President of the United States, Fitzgerald Grant III, played by Tony Goldwyn, which involves a forbidden love marked by power, ambition and sacrifice.
One of the great attractions of "Scandal" is its ability to blend political intrigue with personal melodrama. Characters like Mellie Grant, Cyrus Beene, and other members of the presidential circle complete a mosaic of conflicting interests, conspiracies, and internal struggles that keep viewers on the edge of their seats episode after episode.
It's worth noting that the series doesn't address themes such as corruption, racism, media manipulation, state violence, or the moral dilemmas of those in power. However, it does feature sharp dialogue and unexpected twists that are characteristic of Shonda Rhimes.
