However, this film also proved to be a flop at the box office.

Alia Bhatt played an important role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. The story of the film was based on the life of 'Gangubai', who was once the queen of Kamathipura. Alia's film was mired in controversies even before its release. The local people of Kamathipura raised their voice against the film. People alleged that the way Kamathipura is depicted in the film is wrong. This is bringing disrepute to his area. However, the protest did not have much effect on the film.
