The tense relationship between Britney Spears and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, explodes into the public sphere again, this time following the revelations included in Federline's memoirs.

In them, he expresses deep concern for the singer's well-being and the impact on their children together, sparking a forceful response from Spears on social media, in which she asserts that these “memories” are not real.

In his book, Federline does not spare details about what he describes as alarming behavior on the part of Spears. His main fear, he says, is that the situation is “heading towards something irreversible” and that “something bad is going to happen if things don’t change.”

The artist says that his greatest fear is that his children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, now 20 and 19, “will be left holding the pieces.”

One of the most shocking testimonies that Federline shares dates back to when the children were young and, according to him, did not want to visit their mother. She recounts a disturbing sequence: “Sometimes they would wake up in the night and find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep—'Oh, are you awake?'—with a knife in her hand. Then she would turn around and walk away without explanation.”

Faced with these accusations, Britney Spears came forward with a forceful message addressed to her millions of followers. The artist describes her ex-husband’s statements as “constant gaslighting,” a practice she describes as “extremely painful and exhausting.”

Spears flatly rejects the image projected of her as a mother and says she has always longed for a relationship with her children. “I have always begged and cried out to have a life with my children,” she writes. She laments that relationships with “adolescent boys are complex” and feels “demoralized” by the situation, accusing her children of having “witnessed the lack of respect their own father has shown” toward her. In a revealing outburst, the singer details the current estrangement:“One of my children has only seen me for 45 minutes in the last five years, and the other only four times in that same period.” In response, she announced a change of position: “I have pride too. From now on, I will let you know when I am available.” Spears also lashed out at the publication of Federline’s book, insinuating that it is a response to financial interests: “Those white lies in that book go straight to the bank and I am the only one who is really hurt.” She asked her followers to ignore the rumors about her mental health and alcohol consumption, and defined herself as “a fairly intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life” for the past five years. This new chapter in Britney Spears’ public life occurs after she ended the judicial control that her father exercised over her life and finances for almost 14 years.
