Hilary Duff revived her Disney era in her return to the stage
After more than a decade away from the stage, the American artist kicked off her Small Rooms, Big Nerves tour with an emotional nod to her past
On Monday, London witnessed a major event for fans of 2000s pop culture: Hilary Duff officially returned to the stage.
Beyond Hilary Duff's return to the stage, one of the most striking moments of the first show was when the first notes of "What “Dreams Are Made Of,” the popular song from the Lizzie McGuire movie.
The moment was particularly special for the singer's fans because it was the first time in over ten years that she had performed the song live.
The concert, held in an intimate setting, is part of her small tour, Small Rooms, Big Nerves, which will take her to Toronto, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles.
Duff, who has spent the last decade focused on her acting career and being a mother, admitted to her audience that she was “a little nervous” about this meeting. However, that vulnerability vanished when she decided to embrace nostalgia and pay tribute to the Disney film that catapulted her to global stardom in 2003. The performance of the iconic ballad was not only a gift for her fans, but also represented the artist's reconciliation with her Disney era, after years of rumors about the cancellation of projects related to the character. The energy in the venue reached its peak when the audience, in unison, joined Hilary in singing the chorus of the song that defined a generation. This return to the stage is a prelude to the release of her sixth studio album, titled *luck… or something*, scheduled for February 20th. According to the singer, this new work, under the Atlantic Records label, combines her current maturity with the pop essence that has always characterized her. On November 6th, Hilary Duff released “Mature,” her first song since 2015 and the first single from her upcoming album.
