The emblematic parade took place in Manhattan and delighted thousands of attendees with lots of atmosphere, music and guest artists
In the face of the Knicks' historic victory, the streets of New York witnessed a second party: the National Puerto Rican Day Parade that took place in Manhattan and delighted attendees with a lot of atmosphere, music and top-level guest artists. Such was the case of the singer Daddy Yankee and the actor Anthony Ramos.
According to data revealed by AP, tens of thousands of spectators gathered on Fifth Avenue dressed in the colors of the Puerto Rican flag to begin the celebration.
The one who gave the starting signal was the mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, who was wearing a Knicks t-shirt regarding his victory, over a shirt and tie.
This event, whose first edition dates back to 1950, aims to pay tribute and celebrate the contributions of Puerto Ricans in their native island, the United States and the entire world.
In its 2026 edition, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade was honored by rapper Daddy Yankee, who led the parade, and actor Anthony Ramos, who was part of the original Broadway cast of “Hamilton.”

And in addition to declaring himself happy to be one of the edition's honorees, he mentioned the energy that surrounded the Big Apple due to the Knicks' victory the night before.
"A historic moment in the CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. The energy of a championship and the pride of our Boricua roots came together to create an unforgettable celebration. PR in the house – I ❤️NY," he wrote to accompany his audiovisual.
The popular parade advanced down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, from 44th Street to 79th Street, covering 35 city blocks and demonstrating, once again, the reach and passion of the Puerto Rican public.
In response, thousands of fans made their appreciation for the artist's impact on a global level palpable: “The best of all time… DY”, “You are the main reason why we love Puerto Rico so much” and “The public acclaims you”, are some of these displays of affection.
