The 81-year-old actor lost his life after receiving multiple stab wounds; His partner's son was arrested after confessing to the crime to 911
The film scene is in mourning after the tragic death of actor James Handy, known for his participation in productions such as "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Jumanji", was announced. Official reports listed stab wounds to the chest as the cause of death.
CNN and the BBC report that the 81-year-old was found unconscious in the front yard of his home in Tarzana, California, with several stab wounds to the chest.
The Los Angeles police came to the residence after receiving a 911 call in which an individual confessed to committing a murder: "I am the son of man; I have just killed the man of sin," are the words received by the emergency service.
Hours later, the Los Angeles Police Department issued a statement confirming that Michael Gledhill, son of James Handy's partner, is being held on suspicion of murder.
The 44-year-old suspect is in police custody at Van Nuys Jail and has been booked on a murder charge. A deposit of $2 million has been set, but so far the process for its payment has not been initiated.
In the wake of the uproar generated by the news, the authorities allayed the public's concern by ensuring that no citizen is in danger after their arrest. "The suspect resides at home with his mother, who is the victim's girlfriend (...) The detectives consider that this is an isolated incident and there seems to be no danger to the population," the letter said.
