Lorenzo Mendez reveals that Chiquis Rivera put a GPS tracker on him and wouldn't let him see his daughters
Lorenzo Mendez opened up on 'Would You Bet on Me?' about how badly he suffered in his marriage to Chiquis, to the point that he considered taking his own life
Singer Lorenzo Mendez, one of the participants on 'Would You Bet on Me?', opened up on the Televisa-Univision reality show about his past, including his failed marriage to Chiquis Rivera.
Although the singer entered the show accompanied by his partner, Claudia Galvan, that didn't stop him from sharing some anecdotes about his relationship with the daughter of the late Jenni Rivera.
Lorenzo Mendez revealed that his relationship with Chiquis had its ups and downs, but some moments in particular were the breaking point.
The singer explained that what bothered and tired him the most was that his then-wife didn't approve of him spending time with his daughters.
“My ex-wife, Chiquis, didn't like me seeing my daughters when I moved to California, that's why I obviously said no. Every two weeks I'd take a flight, I didn't care, and every time it was a fight,” Lorenzo Mendez shared about the constant trips he made to El Paso.
In the same conversation, he shared that during that stage of his life he stopped being himself, as he adopted an identity to avoid problems with Chiquis.
“I'd arrive in El Paso and I had to have the GPS on. I was depressed, I wasn't myself anymore, I wanted to commit suicide… I couldn't take it anymore, I lost my balls, I lost my identity, I lost everything. I don't like to speak ill of her, but it's the truth. I hope she heals her traumas and isn't like that now and is happy,” the singer said, surprising his co-hosts.
So far, Chiquis Rivera has not broken her silence, nor has she commented on the statements. Regarding his ex, however, Lupillo Rivera already addressed the issue in his role as a panelist on the reality show and as the uncle of the woman in question. “If a couple has been together for 30 years, it’s because both have worked towards those 30 years, and if a divorce happens, it’s the fault of both of them, not just one person. The behavior of one or the other doesn’t matter. It takes two for it to work and two for it to end,” said Lupillo Rivera, who doesn’t believe it was all Chiquis’s fault.Chiquis Rivera and Lorenzo Mendez were married on June 29, 2019; however, they announced their separation in September 2020, and their divorce was finalized in June 2022.
