Daddy Yankee is the most awarded Latin composer in the history of ASCAP
The "Big Boss" achieved a total of 64 awards after adding two new recognitions from the American Society of Composers
Raymond Ayala, known worldwide as Daddy Yankee, returned to inscribe his name in the golden pages of music. The iconic Puerto Rican artist eño officially consolidated as the most awarded Latin composer in the history of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).
In the recent edition of the 2026 ASCAP Awards, the “King of Reggaeton” added to his showcase the awards number 63 and 64 of his career.
The first recognition was for her composition “Sonríele”, an inspirational cutting theme that has resonated deeply in the global audience. The second trophy came thanks to her work in “Latina Foreva”, song performed by Colombian Karol G.
This milestone is not the fruit of chance, but of unprecedented consistency. Daddy Yankee has maintained an uninterrupted streak of victories in these awards since 2005, when the urban genre barely began its international expansion.
His ability to reinvent himself and remain in force, even after announcing his retirement from stages, reaffirms his status as the main architect of contemporary urban music.
The year 2026 is being particularly significant for the Boricua. In addition to this historical record, it was recently named or “Person of the Year” by the Latin Recording Academy and launched “ECHO”, the official theme of the World Soccer with Shenseea.
The ceremony also highlighted other talents such as Keityn, named Composer of the Year, and Romeo Santos, who received the Latin Composer/Artist of the Year award.
